How to – Metallic finish
- Substrate material: Foil-coated MDF
- Edge and profile sanding: 150 - 180 grit (dust removal)
- Foil sanding: 320 - 400 grit (dust removal)
- Apply 150 - 300 g/m² Hesse PU Isolating filler DP 4791-9005 subject to surface structure, mixing ratio (by volume) 4 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4058 + 1 - 2 % Hesse PU Thixpaste ZD 3596 and 10 % DV 4991 in relation to the lacquer/ hardener mixture. Please mix all components in carefully.
- Drying: 3 - 5 min / 20 °C
- Effect creation: Place a firm, smooth sheet of plastic (such as PVC) onto the lacquered surface and edges, press it on and then immediately remove it again in an upward motion. This process can be repeated depending on the desired effect.
- Drying: 4 h / 20 °C
- Filler effect sanding: 240 grit (by hand or using an orbital sander)
- Apply 130 – 160 g/m² Hesse PU Metallic DB 42632-M19646, mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070, adding 30 - 40 % Thinner DV 4900 to the lacquer/ hardener mixture
- Drying: 4 h / 20 °C
- PU Metallic effect sanding: 600 grit by hand (dust removal)
- Apply 130 - 160 g/m² Hesse UNA-PUR DE 4259x(gloss level), mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070, adding 10 - 20 % Thinner DV 4900 to the lacquer/ hardener mixture. We recommend a dull matt gloss level for this metallic effect.
