Sustainability in the next generation of craftspeople

An exciting competition at the beautiful Wiedenbrück Monastery

When 60 apprentice joiners present their final projects, it’s not just about wood and craftsmanship, but about attitude. Around 2,000 visitors attended the “Die Gute Form” event at the beautiful Wiedenbrück Monastery and witnessed how the next generation combines creativity with responsibility.

The Sustainability Award: Recognition for conscious craftsmanship

We were there as partners, and Melanie Königshoven and Jana Ettlinger had the privilege of supporting a special moment: the presentation of the Sustainability Award. The award recognised final projects that not only impressed with their craftsmanship but were also ecologically well-thought-out.

The following criteria were taken into account for the award:

Conscious choice of materials right from the start
Resource-efficient workmanship
Sustainable surface finishes

The top three winners received shopping vouchers for sustainable coating systems – sponsored by Hesse Lignal, redeemable via the specialist retailer Nüßing in Verl. The winners can use these to carry out their next projects directly using environmentally friendly products.

Sustainability is not just a “nice-to-have”, but a key quality feature. The award-winning projects demonstrate that environmentally conscious craftsmanship and first-class results go hand in hand. It is precisely this attitude that drives the joinery trade forward.

“Die Gute Form” was a forward-looking exhibition, beautifully presented in the historic Wiedenbrück Monastery.

The next generation is ready to take on responsibility. And Hesse Lignal is proud to be shaping this path together with up-and-coming craftspeople and partners such as Nüßing.
