For perfect results on woods rich in active ingredients

Comparison of HYPERION TI 130 and COOL-PROTECT HI 6600-9343

The demands on modern wood coatings are continuously increasing: architects, designers, carpenters and painters not only expect flawless surfaces, but also sustainable, reliable and user-friendly products. Hesse Lignal offers the right solutions with its innovative water-based lacquer systems. The right primer is crucial for the success of the water-based surface, especially with light-coloured coatings on demanding woods. Two products stand out here:

  • HYPERION TI 130 and
  • COOL-PROTECT HI 6600-9343

Both were developed specifically for aqueous coating systems – and yet they serve very different requirements.

What exactly are the differences between these two insulating primers? When do you use which system?

Light-coloured, natural or pastel surfaces look elegant and light – but they pose a real technical challenge for water-based surface coatings, especially on tannin-rich woods such as Oak. Without a suitable primer, these woods tend to bleed through and discolour the surface unattractively.

HYPERION TI 130

The innovative all-rounder for natural and white tints

This is where HYPERION TI 130 comes in. This innovative water-based primer has been specially developed to reliably prevent discolouration caused by wood contents. It forms a reliable barrier while preserving the natural wood structure, creating the ideal base for white or pastel water stains, coloured water-based coatings and even clear surface coatings. When used as a clear water-based coating on dark woods, HYPERION provides a subtle brightening effect.

HYPERION is particularly effective when used in combination with tannic oak woods, such as Oak: the wood is not only sealed, but its appearance is also preserved – a clear plus for high-quality interior fittings, furniture or design surfaces.

In addition, the primer is convincing due to its uncomplicated processing – whether sprayed or brushed, the application is quick, clean and efficient. A single application is sufficient to block the wood ingredients. The roughening of the wood is also noticeably reduced. Another advantage: intermediate sanding is not necessary, which further simplifies and accelerates the work process.

COOL-PROTECT HI 6600-9343

For smooth, coloured surfaces in white areas

The requirements for light-coloured, coloured, closed-pore lacquer structures are quite different – especially on particularly demanding woods such as Hevea. Here, high powerfull filling and absolute insulating performance are essential to achieve a uniform, smooth surface without stains or penetrations.

Hesse COOL-PROTECT HI 6600-9343 was developed precisely for these requirements. This one component, water-based insulating filler provides a homogenous base and reliably blocks even stubborn substances. Its strong powerfull filling properties smooth the wood grain and create the ideal conditions for white or pastel top coats - perfect for closed-pore surface structures with the highest aesthetic demands.

COOL-PROTECT delivers convincing results, particularly with light-coloured, coloured furniture fronts, interior fittings or modern design elements, where colour effect and surface quality must go hand in hand: even, smooth and free from unsightly irregularities.
