PU Base Coat DG 4716-0001

DG 4716-0001 is a light fast base coat. This product has good body and is additionally formulated with high quality light stabilizers (sunblock properties) and thus perfectly suited as a primer for application on light wood varieties in combination with matching Hesse intermediate and finishing lacquers from dull matt to glossy. It can also be used on bleached woods . Our product meets the requirements of the Decopaint Directive when hardened with Hardener DR 4071. Certification to IMO is met when PU Hardener DR 4070 is used at a mixing ratio (by volume) of 2 : 1.

This coating does not pose a physical risk to health nor a risk to the environment when cured and dried.”This product must only be combined with other approved and technically suitable products when used as a flame retardant coating material for seagoing vessels according to the latest version of SOLAS 74 Reg. II-2/3, II-2/5, II-2/6 and X/3, as amended, IMO Resolution MSC.36(63)-(1994 HSC-Code) 7, IMO Resolution MSC.97(73)-(2000 HSC-Code) 7, IMO MSC/Circ. 1120. The maximum application amount in wet film when using this product as a flame retardant coating material for seagoing vessels is 100 g/m².

Procedure example

Natural maple sideboard, semi matt, closed-pore

Basecoat: 1 x 130 - 180 g/m² Hesse PU Basecoat DG 4716-0001, mixing ratio (by volume) 2 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070.

Add 10 - 20 % PU Thinner DV 4900 to the base lacquer in the first basecoat (use DV 4955 on bleached or fine-pored woods).

Drying: > 4 h / 20 °C, preferably overnight

Lacquer sanding: 280 - 320 grit (dust removal)

Basecoat: apply 2 - 3 x 130 - 180 g/m² Hesse PU Basecoat DG 4716-0001, mixing ratio (by volume) 2 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 and Thinner DV 4900 added as required (use DV 4955 on bleached or fine-pored woods), in each case with intermediate drying for 20 - 30 min / 20 °C.

Drying: > 16 h / 20 °C

Lacquer sanding: 320 - 400 grit (dust removal)

Top coat: 1 x 100 - 150 g/m² Hesse PU Multicoat lacquer DE 45034, mixing ratio 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 and addition of Thinner DV 4900 as required

Packable: after at least 16 h / 20 °C
