Surfaces that look like old-fashioned plaster
This two-tone surface effect makes it possible to recreate the feel of old spatula plastering techniques. Modern styles, such as a jeans effect, are also possible. An innovative effect on virtually any surface.
How to – Spatula plastering effect
- Ensure that priming foil, laminated chipboard or MDF surfaces are well sanded
- Prime with 1 - 2 x 150 - 200 g/m² FANTASTIC-FILL DP 4755-9343, mixing ratio 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4071 and diluted with 15 % PU Thinner DV 490
- Allow to dry for at least 16 h / 20 °C
- Intermediate sanding: 280 - 320 grit
- Apply 1 - 2 x 150 - 200 g/m² base tone UNA-COLOR DB 45245-(colour tone), mixing ratio 10: 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 and as necessary dilute or retard the colour lacquer depending on the size of the surface,
- leave to harden for a few minutes, then use a Japanese spatula or other suitable trowel shapes to create a plastering effect
- Allow to dry for at least 16 h
- Thinly apply 1 x an accent colour of at most 50 - 60 g/m² UNA-COLOR DB 45245-(colour tone), mixing ratio 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 + 20 - 30 % PU Thinner DV 490
- Allow to dry for 3 - 5 h
- Use 150 - 280 grit to sand surface and create the desired effect
- Apply 1 x 100 - 150 g/m² UNA-PUR DE 55x(gloss level) / DE 4259x(gloss level), mixing ratio 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070
- Allow to dry for at least 16 h / 20 °C
