Vintage effect

Description/ features: A vintage style and a distressed look on coarsely textured softwood with clearly visible traces of use. This type of surface treatment is easy to achieve using standard Hesse products.

Fields of application: For striking, durable surfaces in interiors and shop fitting, as well as high-quality hotel fittings.

• Use a machine to create structure on the substrate material.  
• Lightly sand the structured three-layer board with its solid wooden frame made of knotted pine using 180 grit sandpaper, then carefully remove all dust from the surfaces.  
• 1 x wood staining with Hesse precious wood stain BE 83-22481 via spraying or brushing. Then remove the excess wood stain.  
• Allow to dry for at least 4 h / 20 °C  
• Apply 1 x 100 - 120 g/m² Hesse UNA-COLOR DB 45245-9010, mixing ratio (by volume) 10 : 1 with DR 4070, add 10 - 15 % Thinner DV 4900 in relation to the lacquer/ hardener mixture.  
• Allow to dry for at least 4 h / 20 °C, preferably overnight.  
• Use an eccentric sander (220 - 320 grit) to sand the surface for effect so that the wood stain is partially but uniformly visible.  
• Next use a sanding sponge to partially sand the Hesse UNA-COLOR DB 45245-9010 colour lacquer and precious wood stain BE 83-22481 in areas such as edges or profiles to achieve the desired effect; as required down to the bare wood for an additional “used look”, in other words clearly visible traces of use.  
• Then remove all dust from the surfaces once again.  
• Finish with Hesse FANTASTIC-CLEAR DE 4877x(gloss level) or with FANTASTIC-CLEAR-ULTRAMATT DE 48770-0 to accentuate the "used look".
